Book Review- David Tucarro “Bad to the Bone” – A truly inspiring story of courage, hope, and strength!

David Tuccaro Jr. is a Mikisew Cree First Nation who overcame his fight with Leukemia, chronicled in his memoir, Bad to the Bone: The True Story of DavidTuccaro Jr. Born and raised in Ft. McMurray, Canada. He shares his tumultuous journey of self-discovery through pain, hopelessness and the feeling of inadequacy to inspire others to overcome adversity. After finding his purpose, he is living out his passion of teaching others to save lives by registering to become a bone marrow donor. David spends his free time with his family and enjoying music.
It has been sometime since David Tucarro Jr. joined the NGB, but his story is something that I am glad to have read and hope others will find and read as well. Bad to the Bone, - is a true story, and written by Marala Scott of Seraph books, as well one of Oprah’s Ambassador of hope.  There are many spots in my personal e-book in which have been highlighted, these spots are what made me take a closer look at what courage and hope meant. If there is something in his own story is how it relates to many things of personal life that made his story very inspirational.
As a person, one who is learning to understand the world, what is told in this story, may relate to many others who face the similar battle with Leukemia. Coming to look closer at this ALL or acute lymphoblastic leukemia, learning more about the realities of the treatments, effects of the medications, the realities of ALL is truly overwhelming. When we visited on the broadcast back in the early summer, I didn't really know a lot of what survivors or the families had to face. Today, I have been able to read stories of others who face the similar battle which David tells and recollects of that battle that he faced. Through these stories are true inspiration of hope, fight, courage, and strength. Through stories such as David Tucarro Jr., it allows you to see the world in which many of the realities that are faced with today, and inspire in me personally to pay closer attention to those who really do inspire to “power through this”.
I would like to say thank you to David Tucarro Jr. for joining the NGB in July 2014, and though it has been sometime from that conversation, his story resonates in my mind as I come to learn more about the realities and effects of Leukemia survivors.
